This site is rocking!!!!!!!! I love alllllllllllllllllllll the photos. Keep doing your thing! Your consistency to the craft is commendable. You are a poet’s poet as well as a people’s poet.

Is da hair windblown…you rock….like a celebrity
can I say I know you do they make dolls in your likeness
how do I get one of these palaces
gee I mean gee you look sweet
and you talk smart like a bee
sting wicked red mark no it aint no hicky
I don’t make out in narrow places
you understand round
I can tell by the way you refuse
to follow any tradition straight
so so what what you you say
they are playing dem drums on the train
again
this time I think I’ll join in

I’m so proud of my cuzzo!! Continue to inspire others and reach millions through your work. I have seen your gift flourish since you wrote “What Type Of Load Do I Bear?” in Mrs. Flouhouse’s high school English class (See what happens when you pass notes in class? I took you back on that one!! :>) lol. ). I look forward to seeing you soon, and come represent in Kankakee as well!! Much Love Tara, and May God continue to shower your life with peace and bountiful blessings!!!

Hi Tara, I took a workshop from you at AIPF and got a poem out of it, which is my favorite outcome of a workshop. I love your blog (I’m vegetarian and my husband is moving towards vegetariansim) and can’t wait to read your book!

Ms. Tara:
Been impressed and admired your talent and presentation since we met…I don’t know who said that us old folks can’t learn at the feet of the new. Guess that’s ’cause folks don’t understand: if someone has knowledge, it’s the sharing that keeps it growing. My mentor, the late John Oliver Killens was always bringing in the old with the new. And everyone learned. Sharing pedagogical ideas or books and ideas about clothes and food is what keeps a community solvent. And I believe, from watching you and listening to you, that you embody the spirit of true sisterhood. I thank you for that. Peace & blessings, Ms. B.

Dearest Tara, We met last week on Cape Cod your poetry exudes that warmth, love and understanding of the intricacies of existence which only patient love can discover. You are “The Big Easy”, like the Mississippi you just keep on rollin’. With great love and appreciation, Paul Robeson, I mean, Wayne Tooker
